PianoDisc strikes acc(h)ord with Carnival Cruises Carnival Cruise Lines has added PianoDisc to the top-notch roster of seafaring entertainers on 11 of its popular cruise ships. Within the next year, the cruise line anticipates buying at least six more PianoDisc systems for two new Carnival ships--the Carnival Triumph and the Paradise. The latter, scheduled to debut later this year, will be the world's first smoke-free cruise ship. Miami-based Carnival--the world's largest cruise line with ports of call throughout the Caribbean, the Mexican Riviera, Alaska and Hawaii--has installed 26 PianoDisc systems in lounges and dining rooms of its ships. Carnival officials say that PianoDisc systems will provide background music for elaborate buffets, and accompaniment for musicians who appear on board. The systems will also fill promenade decks with a variety of musical styles ranging from jazz to classical, calypso to rock 'n' roll from PianoDisc's music library of nearly 4,000 musical compositions. Founded in 1972, Carnival Cruise Lines offers three- to sixteen-day cruises from ports in southern California and Florida, as well as in New Orleans, Vancouver, British Columbia, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The company's 12 ships include seven mega-liners, which have a tonnage of 70,000 and carry 2,040 passengers. Another Carnival ship, the 101,353-ton, 2,642-passenger MS Carnival Destiny, is the largest passenger vessel ever built. Carnival Cruise Lines is expected to introduce four new ships in the next three years. Go back to "Current News" |
