Recording studio takes PianoDisc to the movies PianoDisc is going to the movies, thanks to The Enterprise Studios' recent purchase of two PDS-128 Plus player-piano systems. The Enterprise Studios is a Los Angeles corporation that owns a number of recording facilities. Its newest branch is a Burbank scoring stage where musical scores for feature films are recorded. This state-of-the-art studio can accommodate up to 75 orchestra musicians, who view a film on the large in-house screen, while matching music to scenes that are projected. At the same time, Enterprise engineers carefully synchronize the music to the film images with the help of sophisticated, computerized equipment. Musicians and engineers in this process will benefit from the PianoDisc systems--purchased along with two 9-foot Steinway model D concert grand pianos from Field's Pianos & Organs in Los Angeles. The PianoDisc systems are equipped with the TFT MIDI record strip, as well as PianoDisc's Symphony option. The record strip allows pianists to record their own performances and to synchronize two or more instruments with each other. The Symphony option can reproduce the sounds of a 32-piece symphony orchestra. Using the PianoDisc system, a composer can record a piano performance, then send an electronic signal to other digital instruments to play the same song simultaneously. The system also allows composers to try out symphonic notes, instruments and ideas on the PianoDisc system before presenting them to performers. Go back to "Current News" |
