PianoDisc patents SilentDrive technology PianoDisc has just received the exclusive United States patent on its SilentDrive player piano technology. SilentDrive allows remarkably quiet playback (with dynamic musical expression) on the PianoDisc system. This patent--administered by the United State Department of Commerce through its Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.--gives PianoDisc exclusive rights to create, use and sell SilentDrive products for a period of 20 years. The PianoDisc PDS-128 Plus system precisely reproduces original musical performances by some of the world's most famous pianists, and allows these concerts to be played back on its owner's acoustic piano. SilentDrive, developed by PianoDisc engineers and introduced at a National Association of Music Merchants' (NAMM) trade show, enhances PDS-128 Plus in a number of ways. Using a microcontroller (or small control unit) and three custom computer chips, SilentDrive allows the PDS-128 Plus system to play the piano as quietly as needed--even at the level of a whisper--without sacrificing full dynamic expression. SilentDrive broadens the creative range of the PianoDisc system, providing more volume control and faster key and pedal movement. In short, it allows the PianoDisc system the flexibility to play back recorded compositions with full accuracy. For further information, please contact us at sales@pianodisc.com.
